About Dry Ground AI
Dry Ground AI helps mid-market companies become AI native. We design, build and run custom software, AI agents and automation workflows that operate in production for real businesses, not demos. We are a fully remote team working with clients across the U.S.
The roleWe are looking for a senior AI Engineer who can own features end to end: the interface, the backend, the integrations and the AI behavior behind them. You are a strong software engineer first, with the judgment to apply AI where it creates real business leverage.
This is a generalist role. You will move between client projects as priorities shift, so we value people who can hit the ground running, pick up a new codebase quickly and keep momentum when switching from project A to project B.
Quality and security are part of how we build, not a separate step. Our engineers ship through Kaiken, our AI-assisted delivery workflow, with automated tests, Playwright end-to-end checks and security scanning on every change. You write the tests that prove your feature works.
What you will do
- Design, build and ship full-stack applications with React and TypeScript on the front end and Node.js or Python on the backend
- Build AI agents, conversational interfaces and multi-step workflows using LLM APIs and frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph
- Connect AI systems to the tools our clients run on: CRMs, property management and CMS platforms, data sources and internal tools, through REST APIs, webhooks and automation platforms such as n8n
- Plan how each new feature will be tested, then write and maintain the automated tests and evaluations for it
- Design for production: authentication and permissions, observability, error handling, and performance under real user load
- Work directly with engagement managers and clients to scope solutions, estimate effort and explain technical tradeoffs in plain language
- Review code and help raise engineering standards across the team
What we are looking for
- 5 or more years as a full-stack or senior software engineer
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript, with hands-on React experience
- Backend experience with Node.js and/or Python, including API design and integrations
- AI features you have shipped to production and supported, not only prototypes
- Working knowledge of LLM tooling (OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, LangChain or similar), prompt and context design, and retrieval-augmented generation
- Habit of writing automated tests; experience with Playwright, Cypress or similar
- Daily use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, with Git and GitHub
- Fluent written and spoken English; you will join client calls and write client-facing updates
Nice to have
- Security experience: secure coding, secrets management, access control, dependency scanning
- CI/CD and cloud deployment, ideally AWS (GitHub Actions, containers, managed databases)
- Capacity planning and scaling, such as moving a system from SQLite to Postgres or handling traffic spikes
- Vector databases, embeddings, OCR or document-extraction pipelines
- Voice AI, real-time or event-driven systems
- Consulting or agency background with direct client delivery
What we offer
- Competitive compensation with performance-based bonuses
- Fully remote, flexible schedule
- High ownership: your decisions shape how our systems are built
- Real AI systems in production across multiple industries
- Training and development support
How to apply
- Please submit your resume and portfolio with two or three relevant examples of your work.
- Submit a 1 to 2 minute video explaining to a non-technical business owner what an AI agent is and how it could help their business.
