Mainframe Systems Automation Engineer | Campinas, Brazil (Hybrid or Remote) | Up to $60,000 USD Per Year

The Opportunity

We are working with a leading global IT infrastructure services provider seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Automation Engineer to join its specialist mainframe team in Brazil.

This is more than a standard mainframe support role. You will help major enterprise clients modernise their mainframe automation, reverse engineering existing automation and rebuilding it on modern native IBM automation tools.

Demand for this work is growing as clients move away from outdated or costly third-party automation tools as part of renewals and technology refreshes. We are looking for someone with deep z/OS knowledge, strong systems automation experience and the troubleshooting ability to support critical production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain mainframe systems automation across z/OS environments.
  • Analyse and reverse engineer existing automation built on legacy or third-party tools.
  • Migrate and recode automation into native IBM automation tools.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX.
  • Configure and support NetView and related systems automation products.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and support production recovery.
  • Support Parallel Sysplex environments, including resiliency and disaster recovery.
  • Follow strong change management discipline across production systems.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, project teams and technical stakeholders.
  • Document automation logic, procedures and changes.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in mainframe systems programming or systems automation.
  • Experience across several of the following areas:
  • z/OS and subsystem knowledge
  • Systems automation and NetView
  • REXX scripting and automation engineering
  • Troubleshooting and production recovery
  • Parallel Sysplex, resiliency and disaster recovery
  • Change management in production environments
  • Experience migrating from Broadcom or other third-party automation tools to IBM automation is a strong advantage.
  • Background as a z/OS or Db2 systems programmer with strong programming skills will also be considered.
  • Excellent communication skills and a disciplined approach to change and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently in complex enterprise environments.
  • Based in Brazil, with the option to work from the Campinas office or remotely.

What’s on Offer

  • Salary of up to $60,000 USD per year, depending on experience.
  • Flexible hybrid or fully remote working within Brazil.
  • Full-time position with a global leader in IT infrastructure services.
  • Specialist work in one of the most in-demand niches in the mainframe market.
  • Exposure to large-scale modernisation projects for major enterprise clients.
  • Join an established centre of mainframe expertise with strong long-term demand.
