Role: Technical Project Manager — MES & Historian Data Migration
Location: Mexico and Brazil
Job Type: 100% Remote
Duration: Initial 3–6 months, with possible extension
Client: Oxford
Role Overview
Our client, a specialty chemicals manufacturer, is replacing its in-house Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and process historian platform with an AVEVA-based solution. The target architecture is complete, and the team is preparing to migrate plant locations to the new platform.
We’re seeking a project manager with strong data project or data analysis experience and a background in process manufacturing. This person will coordinate plant migrations, manage cross-functional delivery, and help ensure manufacturing data is migrated accurately and with minimal disruption to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project planning and delivery for plant migrations from the legacy MES and historian platforms to the new AVEVA-based platform.
- Coordinate activities across business, manufacturing, data, engineering, IT, and vendor teams.
- Build and maintain project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and status reporting.
- Support data migration planning, including source data assessment, mapping, validation, reconciliation, and readiness tracking.
- Work with plant teams to understand existing processes, data flows, historian tags, and site-specific requirements.
- Facilitate workshops and decision-making across technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Track migration progress and escalate risks or blockers that could affect site readiness, data quality, timelines, or plant operations.
- Coordinate testing, cutover preparation, go-live activities, and post-migration issue resolution.
- Communicate project status, decisions, and impacts to stakeholders and leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Strong project management experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience managing data-centric projects or working as a data analyst.
- Experience in process manufacturing, ideally in chemicals or another industrial environment.
- Familiarity with MES, process historians, manufacturing data, or plant system migrations.
- Strong skills in project planning, risk management, stakeholder coordination, and status reporting.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AVEVA MES or historian products.
- Experience with plant-level system rollouts or multi-site migrations.
- Familiarity with data mapping, data quality, validation, and cutover planning.
- Experience working with specialty chemicals or other process industries.
